    PB Subdivide takes several minutes.

Karl, you're great, man. Was it in that connect() function? Just curious.

    PB Subdivide takes several minutes.

    Oh, Unity version is 4.5.
  3. Probuilder 2947 on Mac OS X 10.9.4. 1. Create an empty scene. 2. Use PB to add a 1024x1024 plane with 20x20 subdivisions. 3. Fiddle around with the vertices to make nifty looking terrain. 4. Realize that some areas of terrain need more detail, so click on one face and choose "Subdivide". The wheel is still spinning now after 20 minutes. I'm unable to use the UI while it is busy. I hope eventually it will finish and I'll be able to save the scene and edit it again. I am happy to hear workarounds or advice for avoiding this situation. -Erik

2D animation combined with 3D model.

Thanks! I'm getting more 2D sprites from the animator, and looking forward to seeing them walking around and talking. Here's a view that shows a wider view of the big underground cave--all ProBuilder-modeled. There is this thing called the "Sun Arch" that supports an artificial light over crops to simulate natural sunlight. I just keep adding details to the scene when I can. It's very enjoyable, actually. Some people prefer gardening, but I'll take modeling. -Erik

2D animation combined with 3D model.

Here's another vid showing more ProBuilder construction. Again, mostly untextured. But to be honest, I'm a fan of the "prototype" texture and am likely to replace it with something similar on many surfaces. Going for a techy look like TRON or the old Marble Madness. -Erik

2D animation combined with 3D model.

Thanks, Karl. I look forward to detailing the scene and adding textures and details. The modeling work I've done so far with ProBuilder has been really enjoyable.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. -Erik
  8. Z, I posted some videos here: http://www.protoolsforunity3d.com/forum/index.php?/topic/696-2d-animation-combined-with-3d-model/
  9. The idea is to combine a 2D sprite (authored with Esoteric's Spine tool) with 3D backgrounds. The camera is kept at a constant 45 degree angle so that the 2D animations don't look too sloppy. Here are a couple of videos showing early tests: The Unity scene this guy is inside of is a one kilometer-cube space. I'm actually waiting for a Probuilder update to the texture tools before working on texturing. When I get further along, I'll post some more vids of the more interesting locations. -Erik
  10. Z, I postponed the texture-related aspects of modeling for a bit. I want to try it with the new ProBuilder texture features that ProCore people are working on because it sounds like they are likely to save me time. But myself and Bettina, and animator, have been working on other aspects and making progress. I'll post a few vids now over on the showcase thread. -Erik

    Unity 4.5 readiness

Hmm. Good to know. Often there is a standard test suite to run software through to check all the features for pass/fail. It would still be nice to know what ProCore people regard the status of their software as for 4.5 compatibility.

    Reflection Demo made using ProBuilder

Ha! Maybe the lesson is that you should make all your demos beatable even if they aren't meant to be games. -Erik

    Reflection Demo made using ProBuilder

Rambus, I played the web demo at ( Web Demo ). I was unable to escape from the room. I kept pressing the space bar until the room filled up with reflective balls and I suffocated. This game is too difficult for anybody to win. Now I am upset. . . . Just kidding. Very cool! -Erik

    Unity 4.5 readiness

Sorry, that maybe comes across like "you should do it my way". Just a suggestion. I will keep my eye out for the next release and read the release notes.

    Unity 4.5 readiness

I'm holding off on upgrading to 4.5 because I don't want my project to break in some way or run into glitches that make work harder. Sure, I can back up my project before the upgrade. But things work fine now, and I don't want to make hassles for myself. If the ProCore team will make an announcement at some point that they feel good about ProBuilder, ProGroups, ProDecals, etc. working under 4.5, I'll upgrade at that point. And I won't be grumpy if they missed a few bugs. -Erik
